Interviews: Proud Outsiders

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Proud Outsiders from Spain. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name of the band is based on the fact that none of us are from Madrid, the city where we met and we are based.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It wasn ́t a decision. The genre chose us, not the other way around. We grew up listening to hard rock, blues, funk, or even progressive music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we met through an ad on the Internet, Sergio started singing and decided to put a band together as the lead singer and guitarist.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Sergio loves 70s and 80s bands such as Led Zeppelin, and Van Halen and solo artists like Richie Kotzen, Prince, and Jeff Beck. Carlos ́ favorite bands are Mr Big, Deep Purple, and Extreme and progressive bands like Rush or Dream Theater.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experience, people, situations. Music cannot be honest if it doesn't ́talk about real stuff, but that's just our approach.

6. Where was your last gig?

October 6th, in Madrid.

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere there is electrical power.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A lot of the musicians we admire are dead, haha but there are still great musicians we would love to collaborate with. As long as the artistic concept seems interesting to us, anybody is welcome.

9. Whom not?

I guess reagetton artists are not in the picture from now.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No never really. We still get a bit nervous right before the show but once we hit the stage and play the first chord we are ready to take off.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Rock bands from the 70s and 80s such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Van Halen, and more current bands like The Winnery Dogs.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One night there was apparently a magician in the audience and after the show, he asked us to take part in some of his magic tricks.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the best looking and classy people and they've got great musical taste too.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great, all music fans should visit it often.

15. Something to add?

Listen to our album "Anything To Offer?". It's a true rock and roll album with lots of fun tunes. Follow us on social media @proudoutsiders to stay up to date with us.
