Interviews: Trunk

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Sludge Metal band Trunk from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name; did you plan it or came out just like that?

We were outside our old practice space, talking about what name we should use. We were all leaning on a car parked outside and we all just thought, "Trunk"? One word, easy. No meaning. Perfect.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I love all types of music, but loud, fast music gets me going and if I'm seeing a show, I want a show. Love high energy. And cheap booze.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jer and I were in the band Sovereign before we formed Trunk and we knew Luis through music and mutual friends.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

We all love Smash Mouth.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life is just having something to say and wanting to travel the cheapest way possible.

6. Where was your last gig?

Playing a punk house in Philly and then 3 shows in Texas.

7. Where would you like to act?

I act every day at work, pretending I'm not a piece of shit.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Cannibal Corpse cause they're the kings.

9. Whom not?

Cro Mags. Fuck that old man trash.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Stop trying to be cool, look cool, act cool. Be yourself, let loose. Enjoy the moment and fuck everyone. Do it for yourself and don't overthink it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mostly punk and DIY bands. We just love bands that grind and don’t rely on others. No Gods. No Masters.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My hair. You can just grab off the floor following our set.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who supports us is cool as fuck in my book.

14. What do you think of our site?

Rad shit! Keeping the underground alive and giving small bands like us a voice.
