Interviews About Albums: RHINO - Human Farm (2023)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Stoner Rock band RHINO to ask questions about their album "Human Farm".
1. What can you say about Human Farm?
Rhino: Human Farm is our second full-length that had a
complex and difficult birth. It conveys all the uncertainty
that the world has experienced in the last three years, plus
the personal life experiences that each band member had
in these years as well. It also shows our musical growth,
our research for the best arrangements, and a more
pronounced psychedelic soul compared to the previous
one.
2. What is the meaning of the Human Farm name?
Rhino: The concept of Human Farm is the following: most of us are embedded in a mechanism forced by modern society, so, similar to factory products, human
beings come out all the same, pushed to live like farm
animals whose final purpose is to be cannon fodder. The
only chance is not being alone, but being everyone and
everything in the same condition. Being aware of this
condition should give them a reason to react.
3. Which one is the composer of the Human Farm?
Rhino: All the members of the band took an active part on
the composition of the album tracks.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Rhino: Of course, there are some songs to which the band is
more attached, and, maybe, one of these is Magic
Water. Here are two reasons: the first one is because the song
is dedicated to a girl who died many years ago. The second
one: it’s a comprehensive trip into Rhino’s world:
psychedelia, fuzzy distortions, wall of sound, and, in this
case in particular, the amazing backing vocals of Cristina
Chimirri.
5. Is there a special message in Human Farm? If there is
what it is?
Rhino: Apart from the aforementioned song that has given
the name to the album and inspired the artwork, the rest
of the tracks have different meanings and inspirations on
their own. We don’t wanna reveal really everything at the
moment, so we wanna give to the listeners the chance to
discover what’s behind the songs by themselves (perhaps
the meaning can be different from person to person, why
not!)
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Rhino: “We walk in line getting our destiny”
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album?
Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to
thank especially?
Rhino: Most of all, the album takes inspiration from each
band member's everyday life.
Every event, that occurred to each of us in the last years, has
inevitably influenced music and lyric writing. Another
aspect that led the composition is the research for a
specific type of sound (which we’re very satisfied tbh!).
Now, more than ever, we’d like to thank the friendship and
the love for music that connect us, and that helped us to
not lose the way and reach the goal.
8. Something to add?
Rhino: Thanks a lot Breathing the
Core for the interview, enjoy Human Farm soon, and see
you on the road!
