Interviews: Chris Maragoth

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Gothic Metal/Symphonic Metal/Melodic Death Metal artist Chris Maragoth from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name for my solo project Chris Maragoth consists of 2 parts. My real name Chris and the surname Maragoth came about by chance many years ago as I needed a name for an online game called Guild Wars and randomly hammered on my keyboard. I liked this name a lot and used it for many years as a nickname and then as an artist name/name for this project too.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Rock and metal music in general have been with me almost my entire life and helped me through difficult times, so it was only logical to focus on the genre in my own musical endeavors.

3. Your favorite band?

Trivium

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Deep emotions or dramatic stories as well as critism on society and politics

5. Where was your last gig?

Magdeburg with my former band Kanit; no gigs with my solo project

6. Where would you like to act? 

Small locations, bars, small festivals, nothing too big

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

Matt Heafy from Trivium, Serj Tankian… lots of people.

8. Whom not?

Nazis, racists, homophobes etc

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Try to breathe slowly. Definitely, no alcohol, makes it worse

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Trivium, System of a Down, Muse, and lots of classical composers

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird yet. 

12. What do you think of your fans?

They're cool and really into metal music!
