Interviews: Shadow Empire

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Shadow Empire from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

Our band name "Shadow Empire" originated from the album concept. We used Empire because we wanted to let the audience know that the music is bigger than the band and that they are a part of it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Mostly because I am a metalhead, and I like to make the music I would want to hear as a fan. I resonate with classic rock and metal because of the raw, honest energy, which I believe we captured in Shadows.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew Fred (bass) and Mikey's older brother Brian plays drums. Mikey met Milan through making this album, seeking the "perfect fit" for vocals.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Mikey - "Hard to say my favorite...but if I had to pick, I'd say Pantera. Just because of how my brother and I were so inspired by the Abbott brothers growing up."

Milan - “There are too many good bands out there to just pick one. I don't have just one favorite, it varies day to day: ACDC, Beatles, Pantera, Queen, King's X, Sevendust, Slipknot, and more.”

Fred - "Mötley Crüe. That's why I started playing, and also what makes working for them so cool for me.”

Brian - “Pantera. They were the first band that I heard of raw aggression. I also love the fact that it’s a brother duo. I relate to that.”

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My biggest inspiration to play music came from my upbringing. I come from a family of musicians, so writing songs was always in my blood. I feel inspired to write because it’s a way to express myself and I also think people can resonate with the songs. If it can help anyone get through a hard day, it makes it all worth it for me.

6. Where was your last gig?

Shadow Empire has not gigged yet as they are a new project. Although all members have Shadow Empire have gigged in their careers.

7. Where would you like to act?

Where the fans think we should play!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Zakk Wylde or William Duvall comes to mind first. Zakk is one of Mikey's biggest inspirations. William is an amazing vocalist whom we would love to hear blended into our sound!

9. Whom not?

We don't have any real "nopes". Music is a way to bring us all together.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Everyone feels nervous before going on stage. I think that’s normal. If you’re confident in your playing, you’ll forget all about the nerves after the first note.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Pantera, Slayer, Slipknot, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Iron Maiden, and many more

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing in particular really comes to mind, we’ve had very positive interactions with our fans so far.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love all our fans of course. As a new band, we are looking to build our fanbase and we welcome everyone to our Empire.

14. What do you think of our site?

A very great site to find metal bands. An awesome lineup of bands from all across the world, and a wide array of metal, with great taste. The New Bands feature is a great way to discover bands that are up and coming.
