Interviews: WAR ANGEL

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band WAR ANGEL from Iran. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were planning on a war-related name not because we like war, but on the contrary. Then we wanted it to be anti-religious at the same time by being religious so War Angel came up.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It's not an option, it's in our blood since the day we were born, and it runs in the family.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Me (Mani Kewmars vocals) and Nima Kewmars (lead guitarist) are brothers and we were friends with Mottaghi brothers (Farhad on guitars and Faramarz on drums) We changed a bass player and later on Pooyan Ahmadi joined us as bass player.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Mani (vocals): Mercyful Fate, Black Sabbath, Exodus, Iron Maiden.

Nima (lead guitarist): Iron Maiden.

Faramarz (drummer): Exodus

Farhad (guitarist): Metallica

Pooyan (bassist): Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Morbid Angel.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our families and being raised with metal music give us energy. Death and suffering of humanity through the ages and ages of lies and religious manipulation plus epic poetry of ancient times always inspired us. Tony Iommi, Steve Harris, KK Downing, Harry Gregson Williams, and Howard Shore are the people we take inspiration mostly from.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was back in 2018 in Tehran, two illegal shows in a theatre hall, with the risk of persecution and prison! Because metal music is forbidden here.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere on the planet anytime, we just want to play until we die.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Many great artists, one of them already came true! Mr Rob Dukes. Howard Jones, Gary Holt, Hansi Kursch, Phil Anselmo, Marcel Schirmer, and James Hetfield.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not happen to us, we're always so excited to go on stage and play. There's only a little concern that our drummer has about falling drumsticks from his hand during the show. Somehow it never happened, but one should always practice for the best and be prepared for the worst.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Many bands but the most important are Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Exodus, Slayer, Killswitch Engage, And Generation Kill.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan once asked our bass player Pooyan if he could give him his guitar! And another one asked our drummer to break his sticks on the stage.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are so devoted and hardcore and we owe our existence to them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is amazing! All the good new stuff is just a scroll away!
