Interviews: Kolossus

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Technical Melodic Metal band Kolossus from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Band name originated from this idea of a colossal human-shaped being that is formed from smaller humans. I would describe it as an illustration of the power of many.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This genre gives opportunities to evolve and since the beginning of the band, it has represented the musical background of every player. Also, it gives the songs the power and aggression that they receive.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Mainly no, we live moderately small city so we were familiar with each other but this was not a group of friends that among drinking beers started playing music in our parent's garage.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Petri: Gojira.

Jaakko: Mastodon.

Antti: Pantera.

Janne: Behemoth.

Juuso: HIM

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The world around us, taboos, and struggles we encounter in our lives. Conversations we have with the band can trigger a song.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at Ravintola La Barre in Joensuu.

7. Where would you like to act?

Nummirock, Finland.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Soilwork, Behemoth, Diablo

9. Whom not?

Amaranthe, band mates cannot stand it for some reason (might be jealousy).

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Every gig all the time. Utmost state fright morphs into an adrenaline boost that drives you to the best performance and zone that is hard to describe. Don't fear it, don't fight it, face it and use it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

So so many (we are getting old already). To name a few Soilwork, In Flames, Diablo.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To marry her and give her a child (yeah).

13. What do you think of your fans?

Fans are the fuel for this thing to happen. The energy between the band and the audience is the magic.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love it. The website is clear and easy to browse and you bring to light many excellent bands that otherwise would never get the attention they deserve. Refreshing questions!
