Interviews: Bullets And Octane
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Bullets And Octane, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The band name, Bullets and Octane literally came from most likely a drunken guitar player audition back in 1999. We didn’t have a name yet and weren’t taking it too seriously and I think somebody just blurted it out and so we just went with it without thinking twice lol.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
We really didn’t pick this genre. I think we were just very young and very new and was playing whatever was coming out of our guitar amps, so it just kind of developed into what it is quite organically without much discussion or pre-planning. It just felt right I guess
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Over the many many many years of Bullets And Octane there has been a revolving door of members, depending on the touring and album cycle. Honestly, it was just whoever was available, and whoever was around and fired up at the time to join me in playing live in putting together songs.
4. Each band member favourite band?
As far as individuals having favorite bands I think it’s been all over the board. We were all raised on top 40 music from the 80s and 90s and I think that it was more about favorite songs and it was about favorite bands we pull from all kinds of different genres and styles of music. which is a beautiful thing, but it also sometimes could be very complicated when steering the boat in the right direction album by album in the writing cycles.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Much like mini bands and artists, the drive to write songs, musically, and lyrically, usually comes from a place of personal experiences in life, the ups and downs, the successes and failures, professionally, and personally
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in Hermosa Beach. If I’m not mistaken, at a place called Saint Roch the show is primarily for introducing brand new songs to the Setlist. We always like to try to add two new songs to see how it goes over with the flow of the audience.
7.where would you like to act?
At this point in our career, we have a pretty decent following and Fanbase over in the UK and Sweden so getting back there is always important to us. It would be great to also get back to Japan and Canada. It’s been a while. Touring has become very precious, because it is so expensive these days to travel, and with the state of the world politically things are getting a little crazier as far as feasibly selecting hour touring destinations.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Off the top of my head, I know that volbeat is in the studio at the moment, and most likely will be releasing in touring in 2025, and that would be a fantastic tour to be a part of.
9. Whom not?
Well in all honesty, Bullets would love to play with any band that has a very open and excited fan base eager to hear new music, so we definitely keep the door open to all possibilities with who touring with or playing with.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I think to some degree there’s always a bit of stage fright, and I think that that keeps it exciting. It means that you care about what you’re about to do on stage. It’s a gift and an honor to be able to share what we do with people get people fired up, inspiring, young musicians, and simply lovers of music. so it’s important to give it your best every night so of course that leaves a little bit of nerves just minutes before walking out on that stage. As far as any tips for beginners, I would say listen to as much Music as possible all genres and always be pulling ideas from unlikely sources musically. And just get on stage express yourself as openly and honest as possible.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Oh, man, so many bands have inspired Bullets and Octane over the mini years it’s hard to pinpoint even a small handful in all honesty. Anything from “the living and” all the way to “Bon Jovi” it’s all over the map so many great songs, and bands throughout the years have filled our brains with inspiring song ideas.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I would say off the top of my head one of the weirdest things is fans asking for locks of hair and stuff like that it almost has a creepy serial killer vibe to it. Lol.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Well with Bullets And Octane in particular, the fans are extremely important, seeing as though we’ve never really had major major success it is extremely important to celebrate and acknowledge the existing fans that I’ve come along for the ride for so many many years with all the different sounds from different albums, the ones who stick with you throughout the musical journey It’s quite an honor.
14. What do you think of our site?
As far as what you guys are doing, and your “site“ it is so important that there is people like yourselves, who are always introducing new music to people and getting the word out, spreading the buzz about new and up-and-coming bands, seeing as though it is so darn hard to be a professional touring band these days we could use all the help we can get keeping people engaged, so thank you very much.
15. Something add?
From Bullets And Octane we would just like to say thank you everybody who spreads the word and the Gospel of rock ‘n’ roll and punk rock, metal, etc. keeping this genre of music, alive, and thriving. Please check out our social media and our YouTube channel for upcoming show dates and music video releases. Thank you so much.
