Interviews: Müntrails
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Dark Rock band, Müntrails, from Spain. Check out the interview and their music on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just
like that?
Well, it really sneaked into my dream (Dibasson) I don't know why it came, just that
it appeared. At first, the full name was Cenobites Of Müntrails, but well we just left it
in Müntrails. A trace of the moon, somewhat retouched with the umlaut.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
The truth is we never considered playing any particular genre. We only express
ourselves in a natural way, what arises and what flows in each moment... we never
consider whether we are going to play this style or that one... not at all, it is purely
natural and spiritual expression I would say.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes...not directly, but indirectly. We knew more or less the adventures of each one in
different projects and bands, both current and past.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Ok, it would be something like this:
Zenon loves Killing Joke. To Bas-Lag, things like Alice In Chains & Soundgarden.
Beszel, he loves Anathema. Shevek is a Metallica fan and I'm a diehard Black
Sabbath fan.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
There are thousands of things that can inspire us to write...movies, books, music
different from ours...in short, all kinds of arts and all kinds of events that happen
around us, both physical and spiritual, rather these last. Obviously, everyone in the
band has their own tastes, from Bukowsky, Mozart, Kubrick, Aleister Crowley,
Lovecraft, David Lynch, and things like ancient civilizations and various paradoxes.
6. Where was your last gig?
We have not debuted at the moment, our first show will be in May.
7. Where would you like to act?
Personally in theaters, old theaters full of history, but I guess we are destined for
clubs and festivals, like the others hahaha
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Oh, there are lots of bands we'd like to play with. People like Mercyful Fate,
Katatonia, The Cure, Ulver, God As An Astronaut, Queen Of The Stone Age, ...I don't
know, bands like Brutus, Dool or Wolvennest.
9. Whom not?
There is a band in a village lost in the depths of the province of Pontevedra, who are
very strange and scare me a little bit, i would try not to play with them if possible,
with the rest there is no problem.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on
how to beat that?
Not really. There is always a little tension before going on stage. I suppose it is
multiplied by the importance of the event and the place... but hey, it's not fear... call it
suspense if you want hahaha. As far as overcoming it for young bands, I don't think
there's a secret formula or some magic potion. You just have to go out there 333%
confident in what you do and grab the audience by the scruff of the neck, that's all. It
also influences having your set well rehearsed hahaha, which usually frees you from
tension and gives you confidence.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The Cure, Anathema, Tool, Bjork, Mozart, Killing Joke, Faith No More, Emperor,
Katatonia, Joy Division, and thousands more...
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We are not yet in a position to have fans, we are a band that is still coming out right
now, quite a few people follow us, but I wouldn't call them fans, they are a bunch of
misguided freaks rather hahahahaa
13. What do you think of your fans?
I already told you that we still don't have fans as such, but the people who follow us
are as crazy or crazier than us and that is hopeful and intoxicating. We love
them.
14. What do you think of our site?
Oh, what I've seen is great, you accommodate very interesting new bands, what can I
tell you... it's also magnificently designed and very easy to navigate and contains a lot
of interesting information. Good luck with the project and may it grow both in
content and quality.
15. Something to add?
Well, nothing more, thank you very much for your interest in the band, and as I said, good luck with the site and all the projects you undertake.
Greetings from Galicia.
