Interviews: Nocentia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore band, Nocentia, from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The band's name is based on Latin, "Nocentia" could be translated into something like "guilt", "harm". We wanted to tell our audience that we're tied to our heritage, because history is central in our lyrics.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We love deathcore music and wanted to play something extreme in our scene. It's always a pleasure to play live some sick riffs with fast patterns!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Well, it's been something like 5 years! We had a project before, and years later we wanted to give him something brand new. That's how Nocentia came out.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Kylian: Bullet For My Valentine. Not deathcore but it's a classic to me. Ice Nine Kills, Gojira.

Gian: Windir, Kanon, Mental Cruelty

Christophe: All Shall Perish, As Blood Runs Black, Architects (All A's, classic !)

Pierre: Thy Art Is Murder, Chelsea Grin.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our main theme is the famous expeditions, inventors, and explorers. It is quite a rich source of inspiration, and we write some fictional stories too!

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in our town, Orléans. That was last week and that was a good show!

7. Where would you like to act?

Well, like every French metal dude: Hellfest! But Motocultor would be insane too.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Alex Terrible. That would be sooo incredible. Just to hear a Russian screaming in French!

9. Whom not?

Well, we're just releasing our first EP so we cannot shut some doors!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

That's something we all experienced in our lives, but it's something we're getting used to. I think that the less you feel it, the more you can conquer the crowd!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Some classic deathcore, like early Chelsea Grin. Slipknot was also one of our biggest influences.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird, for now! With this act, at least!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We did two shows and the reception was really good. It helped to go ahead and give everything we got to push our EP ahead of the French metal scene.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think I know it for a long time! Like, maybe the very beginning? Who knows !
