Interviews: Ophiolatry
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Ophiolatry, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
To explain the origin of this name, I will have to tell you a story:
“In my childhood I went through a traumatic experience, I was a witness to the rape of my sister when we lived near Amazonas, the act did not end due to the intervention of a neighbor and the rapist was chased by the residents of the fishing colony where he ended up being caught and There on the banks of the Rio Machado he was beheaded and quartered, days later his remains were found miles away regurgitated next to a skin abandoned by an enormous serpent. Everyone in the band had empathy for my story and felt the meaning of the snake to me, an animal that brought the necessary revenge to all the fears in the world. That's
how the name Ophiolatry was born.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Metal was always Ours pations, we love the art and the way express ourselves is playing Death Metal.
3. Did you know eachother before the band was formed?
Ophiolatry has two stages. First stages was 1998 when Ophiolatry was formed with George (Drums) Fabio (guitars) Antonio (Bass) and (Vocals) in that time no one knew eachother. Second stage is when Ophiolatry returned after a long break with the original member George on the drums, Jaime on Lead vocals, Diego on Bass and Fred on the lead guitars we knew each other.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
This is very difficult to say. There are many that are our favorites
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Everything is an inspiration, the behavior and sick atrocities that human commit to manipulate and conquer the people, to implants their sick doctrine.
6. Where was your last gig?
Last gig was in 2009 in Pindamonhangaba, Brazil.
7. Where would you like to act?
We like to act around the world, anywhere where we can bring our act in performance.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We are very open to all the possibility. We do not have a special target, but what we are looking is for a professional relationships with professional peoples who have the same vision.
9. Whom not?
With unprofessional people, who do not contribute anything to our growth as a person and as a band.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I think every musician had already experienced that at some point in their career. The best thing you can do is concentrate on what you are doing, relax and let it flow naturally.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We have several band numbers that in some way inspired us personally as a musician and as a band. To name a few like Death, Vader , Deicide , and Steve Tucker-era Morbid Angel
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
When we did our last European Tour. A fan in Macedonia asked for an expired document to frame. It was one of the weirdest things a fan asked for.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Without the fans we are nothing.
