Interviews: WARFIELD

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band, WARFIELD, from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The band name "Warfield" comes from the Slayer Live DVD "War at the Warfield", a concert located in San Francisco. But it also fits the critical approach of our lyrical themes, because we go "to war" with every topic we write about. As an anti-war band, we thematise political or historical warfields, that we think are worth getting attention. And of course, we want to turn every stage into an energetic warfield when we play live, so yes - a fitting name indeed! 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Thrash Metal gives you a feeling of power and provides an opportunity to let out all the energy you have. That's why it is the greatest genre there is! 

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I would say so, haha! Matthias (Guitarist) and I are brothers and Dominik (Drummer) has been our best friend since elementary school! We all live in the same small village, which makes it easy. 

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Tough one, there are so many! To make things easy I would probably say Iron Maiden - for every one of us! It simply can't get better than this. 

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Historic films, books and documentaries. The horrors that some people have gone through in their lives. And basically everyday life - you just have to look around! 

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Hochspeyer, near our home. It was a great show and we love to play our home crowd regularly since this is where it all started! But we have some awesome new gigs coming up, so this could be outdated by the time this comes out!

7. Where would you like to act?

Wow, so many places really. We would love to play everywhere we can! Especially the South American and Japanese thrashers have mad energy, so this would be a dream of ours!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Of course with our idols from Slayer, Sodom, Kreator, etc. We already had the huge honor of playing together with Exodus and Suicidal Angels, which was totally awesome for all of us!

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We all get nervous before going on stage. I try not to think about it as much, but that's very hard. I think the key is not to overthink it and realize that this is all just FUN. You don't have to do anything, you're here because it makes YOU happy!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Slayer, Sodom, Exodus, Kreator, Suicidal Angels & Power Trip. 

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Luckily there were no all-too-weird questions yet - but I'm sure this will change eventually, haha!

12. What do you think of your fans?

There is no better feeling than playing the music you love and getting back the energy you give out. When people say they like our stuff and are getting in the pit and banging their heads - that's the best compliment ever! We are extremely thankful for every single one who supports us!!!

13. What do you think of our site?

Awesome way to get to know new music regularly! Bands need people like you to get noticed - so respect!
