1. IT CAME FROM THE DEEP:

This is the story told from the point of view of a lone survivor who is haunted by the attack of a mysterious sea creature who destroyed his ship and killed all the crew, but inexplicably left him alive.

 

2. FORLORN HOPE:

This story describes the fate of men chosen to lead the attack on a fortress in Spain during The Peninsular War era. Men who were selected for the first assault were often drawn from soldiers who presented discipline problems such as thievery, drunkenness, or dereliction of duty, and who would otherwise be punished harshly or executed if they did not volunteer. Members of a “Forlorn Hope” faced almost certain death, but if by some miracle they survived they would be granted clemency.

 

3. THE STYGIAN TOMB:

This is the tale of explorers who enter ancient Egyptian catacombs in search of long-lost treasures. They ignore all the warnings and portents of danger. What they find instead is an eldritch horror beyond reckoning.

 

4. ALTARS TO THE SKY:

This is about Aztec human sacrifice and cannibalistic ritual ceremonies. The point of view is delivered from a high priest who is preparing his victim in their last moments.
