‘Fall Short’ is a song about never achieving my goals no matter how hard I try. I wrote the final lyric in the breakdown “don’t bother telling me it’s gonna get better / because you lied when you said we were in this together” as a direct call-back to the opening track on our first EP with the lyrics “we can conquer anything if we just stick together / I never thought I’d say this, but I think I’m getting better”. I feel this sets the tone for the rest of the EP, with the running themes of abandonment.

2. BITCHFIT:

‘BITCHFIT’ is our most aggressive song yet. I wrote the lyrics about an ex-colleague who was incredibly difficult to work with. It’s about being sick of always compromising to appease a person who is never happy, which is reflected in the line “I tried to bite the bullet and it broke my teeth”. I think the message of the song is something that a lot of people can relate to within their professional lives. We’ve been performing this song live since the summer of 2022, and it’s always a crowd favourite.

3. Ghost:

The song ‘Ghost’ is about someone emotionally checking out of a relationship before it ends. I really feel like we struck gold with how catchy the chorus turned out. With the instrumental, we really wanted to pay tribute to the early 2000s emo bands and records that inspired us to become musicians such as MCR’s ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ and The Used self-titled record.

‘No Father’ is not my story, but it was one that I was given permission to tell. I wrote it after witnessing the daily struggle that someone close to me faced due to the abuse that she suffered as a child at the hand of the man who calls himself her father.

Sonically, we took influence from bands such as Stick To Your Guns and Silverstein to create the catchy yet raw and heavy sound.”
