Interviews: FOLKRIM

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Folk Metal band FOLKRIM from Finland. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Baby Jesus came into Erno’s dreams and told him that the band’s name should be Folkrim

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’ve been listening to folk metal more or less since we were kids so playing in a folk metal band seems pretty natural. Bands like Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, and Finntroll have been – and still are big influences on us

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes we did, we had been friends long before Folkrim was founded

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Not all of us even have a single favorite band but Children of Bodom, Brymir, Nekrogoblicon, and Fair to Midland are some.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Romanticized versions of stories told by our friend group. Also, just things and concepts that have been in mind, veiled in a layer of folklore and fantasy.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Jyväskylä, Finland. Now we’ll start gigging with the new album as much as we can!

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere. It is awesome to meet new people in new places. We love being on the road even if the van sometimes smells a bit funky.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be awesome to play live with anyone from ‘the Big 5’ (Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Turisas, Moonsorrow, Finntroll). Of course, Jonne Järvelä is always welcome to show off his pipes with us!

9. Whom not?

(Jokingly) Jari Mäenpää. Well, in reality, we would love to work with him, but he would most likely just outshine us, so..

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Of course, we have! Our first gig was the one where we all shared a huge stage fright. It will get better once you do a couple of shows and it becomes more like a pre-gig excitement.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As said before - bands like Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, and Finntroll are big influences for us but also Children of Bodom, Nekrogoblicon, and Trollfest have inspired us a lot. Just to name a few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A selfie. Can’t really understand why someone would want a picture of this handsome devil.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans, they’re awesome. It’s always nice to see and talk to fans after show
