Interviews About Albums: Asterisma - Mecanica Armonica (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Progressive Rock band Asterisma to ask questions about their album, "Mecanica Armonica".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

It's our first attempt to mix all the ideas and all the old projects that we had, and in some ways, we managed to pave the road for the future.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

We are personally obsessed with astrophysics and sci-fi ambientation, and we think that the perfection of nature and the universe resemble the harmony of music, we think that there's a harmony mechanic in everything, that is still unknown.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

ENRICO FIORIO is the main composer, but all the songs have been turned upside down many times by the other members, both in the arrangement and in structures. Almost all the songs are very different from the initial demo, I think we've found a mechanical harmony in this.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Very difficult task...personally, I think that VOYAGER and DEL GIUDIZIO are the ones that could say more about our future.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what is it?

Of course, there is! But we leave to each his attempt to disclose it.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Our lyrics are deliberately obscure...we like to stay vague and leave to the listener his personal interpretation. I think that LA MASCHERA DI UN ALTRO speaks about the world we're living in, with almost everyone trying to be another person on social media...DEI SOGNI E DELLA MORTE speaks about life, the need to not stop dreaming, to become old...DEL GIUDIZIO it's about some sort of judgement in our life, what we'll leave behind on our journey...

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

We find inspiration in everything, there are certainly some personal events that have driven the lyrics, but maybe more are reflections in general. Musically we try to do what we like, there's no urgency to join or resemble some genre or movement, and we listen to a lot of music, we are three very different, but ultimately I think that some sort of progressive rock or nerdy stuff can summarize best what we are searching in music, we listen to a lot of things but then we always come back to this background.

8. Something to add?

This album MECCANICA ARMONICA is only an EP, that lays the foundation for future ASTERISMA, we hope to play live in the near future and to pull out some other music soon.
