Mark The Grave is the opening track on High Desert Lows, a labor of hate spawned from the year and a half I spent in the SoCal Mojave Desert from 2022 to 2023. During that time, I saw myself transform into a spiteful recluse, cursing the world around me.

 

Have you ever had the feeling of, "Why do anything? What’s the point anymore?" That was my baseline status for those 17 months. I didn't even realize it until I relocated to Colorado and started to level out; that's when most of these songs started to appear in my mind. After years of listening to doom bands like Kamru, Lord Velvet, Green Lung, and Astroqueen I realized this was the sound of my feelings that whole time.
