Interviews: Aydra

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Technical Death Metal band Aydra from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The band name, Aydra, came from updating our previous name, Hydra. We wanted to keep a connection to our origins but also create something new and fresh, like version 2.0 of ourselves! 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We love playing technical death metal because, let's face it, we are die-hard fans of the genre. We're not interested in commercial compromises; we just want to make music that drives us crazy. We play for ourselves and for those who, like us, can't live without a good growl in the morning.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we already knew each other. We're from the province of Ancona, where metalheads are like one big family. With bands like Infernal Poetry, Gunfire, Emicrania, and many others, we grew up together, hopping from one concert to another and organizing festivals like True Metal Warriors.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Andrea and Giuseppe are devoted to Death, Cynic, and Atheist. Marco and Luca, on the other hand, have a soft spot for prog metal. So, there's a bit of everything in our musical cauldron.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspiration comes when you least expect it! Everything starts with a riff that hits us, and from there, we develop the piece. The process is long because we're perfectionists (or maybe just indecisive), but in the end, we always find the right groove.

6. Where was your last gig? 

The last time we played live was in 2013, during a tour with Infernal Poetry. Yeah, we miss hitting the stage and making some noise!

7. Where would you like to act?

Our dream? The big European festivals like Wacken Open Air! See you there? 

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

We'd love to collaborate with all the Italian bands we admire and with whom we've formed a strong bond of friendship, like Sadist, Infernal Poetry, and Undertakers. The metal family is growing!

9. Whom not?

We're not picky; there's no one in particular we wouldn't want to collaborate with. We're open to new experiences!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright? Oh yes, we know it well! But after the first minute, everything turns into pure adrenaline. Our advice? Jump in and enjoy the ride; it's like a musical roller coaster!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands that have inspired us the most are Death, followed by Atheist, Cynic, and Sadist. We've learned from the best!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

We don't have any particularly strange anecdotes to share, but we always love the surprises our fans give us. Keep it up, guys!

13. What do you think of your fans? 

Our fans are fantastic! They're passionate, and loyal, and share our love for technical death metal. Without them, our headbanging wouldn't be the same.

14. What do you think of our site? 

Your site is a great platform for connecting bands with fans and sharing their passion for music. Keep up the great work; you guys rock!
