Interviews: Deithesis
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Doom Metal/Heavy Metal/Power Metal band Deithesis from Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
DD: The band name is a merging of the words deity and thesis. I wanted a unique name that was unlikely to be associated with another band
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
DD: This Deithesis sound is mainly influenced by the classic/traditional metal of the 80s. There are elements of thrash, power, and doom power absorbed into the writing resulting in the natural style of the band
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
DD: Yes, I was previously in the thrash band Viocosis with Mickey and also a Slayer tribute act, this previously also included Ken. I knew John from his involvement in Manifest and other bands in the local scene and would meet Allan at various gigs. We live within half an hour of each other.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
DD: Iron Maiden, Flotsam & Jetsam, Sanctuary, Death, Solitude Aeturnus. More recently Witherfall.
AC: Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Kauan, Yob, Primordial
JR: Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Metallica
KB: Death, Slayer, Anthrax, Kerbdog
MMC: Opeth, Pantera
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
DD: I just pick up the guitar and see where it leads me. All the songs are written riff first. Lyrics then gradually build on top of the guitar lines
6. Where was your last gig?
DD & MMC: Rockathon 24 May 25th with Slayer
7. Where would you like to act?
DD: Any of the metal festivals, they are always a great experience. But to choose one, I'd especially like to go on the 70k cruise again
AC & KB: Hellfest
JR: Dynamo
MMC: Rockhard
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
DD: My favourite all-time guitarist Chuck Schuldiner
9. Whom not?
DD: Haha I try to be positive so this is not something I would dwell on, but anyone who denigrates the metal scene
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?
DD: It's natural to have some nerves. Heineken has a nice calming effect.
11. Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
DD: so as not to advocate underage or pre-gig drinking, I'll say rehearsal and familiarity with the songs is the solution.
12. What bands have inspired you the most?
DD: It's a mix of the bands mentioned above but listening to the album I would probably reference Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Candlemass
13. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
DD: The t-shirt I was wearing at the time 'Death - Individual Thought Patterns'
JR - My guitar
14. What do you think of your fans?
DD: I would like to extend our gratitude to those who have invested their time listening to us while there are so many bands releasing great albums
15. What do you think of our site?
Congratulations on a great site. Lots of interesting articles and song links are available.
16. Something to add?
DD: Thanks to Breathing the Core for taking the time for the interview. To the readers, please keep listening or check us out if you haven't. Cheers from Deithesis
