Interviews: PERSEVERE

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Groove Metal band PERSEVERE from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

It kind of fit what we were doing, coming out of the covid lockdowns. We’ve all struggled and had hard times. It’s a mantra for us in a way. We want the world to persevere in a positive way.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For me, it’s the energy, a great way to vent. I’ve been drawn to the power since I was a young child.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Most of us have played together at some point over the years. Nothing as serious as this project has become. Nick, our drummer, was still pretty young when Lance, Phil, and I last played together. Matt had known Lance and Phil for a while as well. Mike, our bassist, is our most recent addition. His talent, willingness, and never-faltering sense of humor were a great fit to complete the team.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I can throw out some solid guesses for you. Lance, I would say Crowbar. Nick would be Slipknot. Matt has to be Pantera. Phil, that’s a hard one. He has so many influences I couldn’t say. Mike, probably whoever wrote the theme song to Paw Patrol. For me, it’s a toss-up for Lamb of God and Slipknot.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It varies. Sometimes it's current events. Sometimes it's just my mood. I like to tell the story that the music conveys to me. Some songs just have a feel that paints a picture or a story. I find a way to paint it for everyone else to see.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was a small local show outside of West Lafayette, IN to kick off our summer CD Release tour.

7. Where would you like to act?

I’ve always wanted to play The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Realistically, I want to play anywhere we have fans. Globally is clearly my end goal. I’m riding this train to the end.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

My dream show would be with Slipknot. Corey Taylor has been a massive inspiration, dare I say, savior over the years. His music got me through almost every crisis I’ve faced.

9. Whom not?

Greenday, hahahaha!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No, I grew up singing out loud everywhere I went. I also spent 5 years cage fighting. I was born to entertain. I feed off the energy when I perform. More fan interaction = more stage presence. The best tip I can give... Pour your heart into it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

In my younger days, it was Metallica and Megadeth. My teenage years would have been Pantera, Tool, Alice in Chains, Deftones, and Sepultura. Newer music includes Lamb of God, Slipknot, Mudvayne, and Slaughter to Prevail, just to name a few. It's always evolving. So many great bands out there today.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

So far…. A big girl wanted to sit on my face. I politely declined.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are amazing! We’ve met so many great people. Music brings people together and, ultimately, that’s the goal. The support we have gotten for this project has been surreal, to say the least.

14. What do you think of our site?

I dig it! Totally recommended.

15. Something to add?

Thanks for reaching out to us and giving us this opportunity. If you haven’t done it already, all of our social media links are at Persevereband.com and you can hear us on every platform. Head up and Persevere!
