Interviews: Pyrofox

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band Pyrofox from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it just come out like that?

Well, we actually struggled to come up with a name for a long time and we had lots of ideas floating around. We ended up using the ever-handy ChatGPT, where we chucked in all the ideas and themes we liked. Pyrofox came from this and we all loved the name and idea of this instantly, feeling it fit with our image - especially that it matched thematically with Tegen’s hair!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This is all our favourite genre. It is the style of music we all grew up listening to and loving. It is our common interest and something that connects us all very deeply.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ben and Aaron played in a band previously, called Black Tree Vultures and when that came to an end they continued to play and write new music together, later finding Tegen to bring in a brand new vibe and exciting prospect, vocally, moving forward. Pyrofox then formed from this – a completely brand-new project.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Tegen – It’s really hard for me to pick just one, however, if I had to choose, I would probably have to say Ice Nine Kills. I come from a theatrical background, so I absolutely love the theatrics in their music and shows.

Aaron – It is a very easy answer for me. ACDC is my favourite band.

Ben – For me, I cannot choose one, so I am going to slip in two bands here – Red Hot Chilli Peppers (shocker from a bassist) and Alter Bridge - the Gods!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We all listen to such a “hot pot” of different styles of music that it naturally inspires us to create our unique sound, in which we allow all our influences to slip through to the music we are creating. Because of this, it is very easy for us to keep writing new music and being excited about it.

6. Where was your last gig?

We last played a hometown show in The Anvil Rockbar in Bournemouth.

7. Where would you like to play?

Obviously, it's Download Festival, no reason not to shoot for the stars, hey?

8. Who would you like to support?

We would support anyone and everyone; we play live music because we love it and also love to meet new musicians and we genuinely enjoy getting to know them and hanging out with like-minded people.

9. Who not?

As previously, we would play with anybody – that being said Alter Bridge might make us feel a bit musically inadequate… but let’s be honest we would never turn that gig down.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

It's very easy for us to get up on stage and play because we are doing that with our close friends – each other!

Tegen: “although, debuting a brand new song live is always a little nerve-wracking. But you just got to do it, own it and enjoy it. The more you do it, the more comfortable and confident you will be”.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Halestorm, Alter Bridge, Shinedown, Soundgarden and Stone Sour.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Aaron: “I have been asked to sign a man’s forehead – so I wrote ‘HAMZ’ as thick as I could, ensuring that the A was dead central with his nose.”

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are very loyal, and we have a good core, who go above and beyond to see us and support us. They feel like our family, they all have a great sense of humour and we genuinely enjoy hanging out with them and catching up with them at gigs. We have a Facebook Fan Group, called the Pyrofox Pack, so please feel free to join that to get some tasty behind-the-scenes action.

14. What do you think of our site?

It seems to be a great platform for rock and metal bands to get some more notice – you definitely support the unsigned bands, which is fantastic! It also looks like you have built a strong following and enthusiastic community dedicated to rock and metal.

15. Something to add?

Please listen to Colourblind on repeat and watch the video! Also, check out our other single “Animal” we released last year, with a fun horror-style video to match!
