Interviews: Through Mists

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Black Metal/Progressive Metal/Sludge Metal solo project Through Mists from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

I liked the idea of 'walking through mists" because you can not really see what is ahead and anything can happen or change at any time. much like how I write music that I like, and not necessarily to fit any particular subgenre

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I love death and black metal, but I also like experimental and progressive music. Each of these subgenres has things that are interesting to me and I like to explore them by mixing different aspects into one song

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I am a one-man band but I am learning more about myself as I continue this project!

4. Your favourite band?

My favourite band is In Flames, and other favourites are Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom and Rivers of Nihil

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experiences give me an idea for a framework and then I start writing music to accompany those ideas and feelings

6. Where was your last gig?

As a one-man band, I do not play live. Maybe one day I will get more musicians to play live, we will see!

7. Where would you like to act?

Honestly, I am up for anything!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

My above-mentioned bands are in the favourites section, but also Cryptopsy, Kataklysm, and Rotting Christ, would all be really cool!

9. Whom not?

That's a secret list ;) but basically no jerks

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Nope, never had stage fright as I started playing shows many years ago when I was young and just wanted to scream for people. My one tip is just to get on stage and do what you love. Honestly, the more you do it the easier it gets! Not everything has to be perfect, as long as the audience is enjoying themselves, you're doing good!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Soilwork, In Flames, and maybe each of their singers. Anders Friden gets his point across on every record, and Bjorn Strid definitely has a crazy high work rate. That really got me going especially at the beginning

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To sign her breasts, when I was touring in Synastry. I did it though!

13. What do you think of your fans?

I love them and cherish them for going on this ride with me

14. What do you think of our site?

I love how easy it is to use, and how much information you can find really easily! Very clean look and is a great resource

15. Something to add?

Check out the upcoming album BRANCHES on July 12th!
