Track By Tracks: Marea - The Silence Of Rust (2024)

1. RIPTIDE TUNE:

This song is conceptually a tribute to "The Confiteor Of The Artist “ by Charles Baudelaire. Being enchanted by the beauty of a landscape, a beauty that soon becomes too intense and the initial feeling of peace turns into suffering and pain. Musically, after a very harsh first part, a second acoustic part follows with softer tones, like a sun that slowly fades in the sea, finding calm after a violent storm.

2. SIDEREAL:

Lyrically this track represents the dark dream also depicted on the album cover art, regarding both the sea depths and the cosmos. After a heavy doom first part, the song explodes into a more aggressive central part with a more classic black metal sound, while the voice alternates between growls and higher-pitched screams.

3. CHIAROSCURO:

Instrumental track characterized by the shades of light that the two acoustic guitars create, one darker and deeper and the other more acute and brighter. This soundscape evokes the image of the reflections and shades that the sun projects on the seabed when the rays meet the waves.

4. IRREVERSIBLE:

This song is about being able to perceive the presence of a spirit even though it is hidden from human senses. The entire song is pervaded by the same aura of melancholy and sadness that surrounds this ethereal figure.

5. RAIN COLOURS:

Musically and conceptually this song paints an abstract picture of the emotions and sensations that the rain is able to give. The colors mentioned in the lyrics, blue and rust, represent the two souls of Marea: blue for the more atmospheric and melancholy parts and the color of rust for the raw and harsh parts.

6. THE SILENCE OF RUST:

The text of this song concerns the spiritism of Allan Kardec and the visions seen by people who have had near-death experiences. Dark doomy parts alternate with riffs imbued with a faint hope, the same hope for something better told by those who returned to life after being declared clinically dead for a few seconds.
