Behind The Artworks: Astral Fortress - Spawn Of The Stars (2024)

The artwork is by Iranian artist Amirh Fattahi and its original title is "Tale". It caught our attention both for its colors and for its representation of an ancestral, primordial cosmic event. And that brings us straight to the chorus of our title track:

 

Spawn of the Stars came forth from outer space

Dark tide is rising legions waiting beneath the sea

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

 

These words merge with the cover with a double interpretation. The image represents the arrival of cosmic horror from outer space, which begins to propagate to throw the universe into infinite chaos, but it can also be seen as Cthulhu's awakening in R'lyeh, if we interpret the white waves as those of the foaming of the stormy sea as the horrible creature stands on the ruins of the ancient temple. The ocean and the cosmos represent the same for us, it is the cold and unknown place from which everything is born and which at any moment could decide to expand again and call us back to itself.
