Behind The Artworks: El Supremo - Signor Morte Improvvisa (2024)

The photo on the album cover was taken by Sabrina Hornung somewhere in western North Dakota near Medora. Something about the image spoke to me and seemed to resonate with the aesthetic that was taking shape with the title track of the album and the sparse soundscape of Solitario. The region of western ND is sometimes referred to as the badlands. It can be quite inhospitable, yet beautiful in its ruggedness. Technically, though, it is quite different from The Badlands of South Dakota.

The image is stark and moody, asking more questions than it answers, which engages the viewer in a manner not unlike the way I hope the music contained within invites contemplation and repeated listens. The photo was sent over to Kiren Bagchee for the album cover design and layout.
