Behind The Artworks: Painted Scars - Kintsugi (2024)

The artwork depicts our lead singer sitting naked, with her back facing the viewer. There is a demon that is ripping open her back, creating scars. These scars are oozing with golden glue.

The demon represents the inner demons people have. These inner demons can create all kinds of mental scars over time.

However, even a heavily scarred person can be fixed up to become even more beautiful.

To become even stronger than before and shine their light upon the world.

This is what the golden glue represents. The scars are filled with shining light that oozes forth from within the person. It is their own power that will make them stronger if they choose.

These golden scars are a reference to the principle of "Kintsugi". "Kintsugi" is a Japanese artform, where they fix up broken pottery with golden glue. The idea is that even broken items can be remade, to become valuable and beautiful once again.
