Behind The Tracks: The Stone Eye - High Frequency Hog (Single) (2024)

High Frequency Hog first came to light while we were working on our other new single, Charlie The Stingray. Whilst searching for parts to incorporate into Charlie the Stingray, I (Stephen) started strumming out what would eventually become the main riff that carried the track. From there we all met together, worked out the arrangement/remaining parts and within about three hours the basis of what you hear on the recording was completed. As the song has what I feel to be a post-hardcore edge to it, inspired by bands such as Helmet and Quicksand, I decided to take that style of approach to the lyrics- something brash, aggressive, and maybe even a little politically charged. Ultimately what began as word play ended up as a track that was about a genocidal maniac akin to Hitler - as the line about a "furious stache" pretty much gives it away (and funny enough, was one of the last lines written for the song after I realized what the lyrics heavily alluded to). So yeah, that's what the hog is all about.
