Interviews About Albums: Vallory Falls - To Save You (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Pop Punk band Vallory Falls to ask questions about their new album, "To Save You".

1. What can you say about this new album?

We spent a lot of time on this album. All in all, we spent a good year or so working on it, trying new recording techniques, just trying to get everything right. I think it really tested my abilities as a producer, as this album was my first experience recording live drums and working with other people in a studio setting.
I was very emotionally invested, With all of the subject matter being things that, in many cases, I had experienced over the course of the last couple of years.

The cover art is a real lighthouse in Marblehead, Massachusetts that I used to go to with friends and partners growing up next to Salem; It's about a lot of late nights in Salem bars, the kinds of people that I met along the way, relationships I got either playing shows or in the local scene, or just being stuck in my bedroom in the suburbs alone and forcing myself to imagine these scenarios.

2. What is the meaning of the album name?

“To Save You” is based on a song that I wrote around the time my last band was breaking up. Basically, it was just an all-around horrible situation I was in, as I was still living with my parents, going on these dead-end dates, and hanging around Salem, MA just trying to find a sense of purpose. In the process, I created a savior complex for myself, where I felt I had to save other people in order to make myself happy.

3. Who is the primary composer of the album?

Tristan is the main composer, writing the lyrics and guitar chords.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Riley - I would choose Want Me Dead, as that song has a lot of meaning to me and the band, as it was our very first music video.

Tristan - I would also have to say Want Me Dead, as that was a song that I wrote about a dream I had about my best friend in high school.

Meghan - Consistently Inconsistent is such a good song

Dan - As Above, So Below is probably my favorite one

5. Is there a special message in this album? If there is, what is it?

The highs and lows of young adulthood, and living in that.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“And thus I am / Crawling in dust of the / Past I shed for her / It's not a weight / That I could bare / And all I want to be / Is where she is” I just love it for the alliteration rasion and the flow.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The situations and lived experiences have been the best influences on these songs. Ultimately, it was these experiences that molded me as a person, and I was able to document them in an artistic way.

8. Something to add?

Our album was released on June 29, and you can check it out on most streaming platforms (still working out the kinks in Apple Music). Thank you for this interview!
