Interviews: The Blacktones

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Grunge/Metal/Stoner Metal band The Blacktones from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

We wanted to come up with a name that best represented the music we were playing at the time, and the meaning still holds true today!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because it's the music we like, nothing more than that. Over the years, the line-up has changed, but each of us has always brought something more without distorting the initial direction

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Gianni and Sergio knew each other because the scene in Sardinia has always been very thriving and there are not many clubs where you can play, this allows you to get to know each other quickly and also often organize evenings together. Same thing for the other members like me who joined the band a second time.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Here we go!

Aaron: Faith No More

Alessandro: Dillinger Escape Plan

Gianni: Refused

Paolo: Knocked Loose

Sergio: Meshuggah

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration in the end comes from ourselves, when we are writing we start with one or two riffs, which then take shape into a real song.

6. Where was your last gig?

We were supporting Hijss for their first album release, in one of the beach clubs that are characteristic of our city, Cagliari. An awesome gig!

7. Where would you like to act?

Doesn’t matter very much the place, We just need an audience and the chance to perform at our best!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

That’s a very long list to think about, but at the top, we’ll surely put Mastodon, Gojira, or Melvins 9. Whom not? Racist / Homophobic morons

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Maybe the first time I was a little bit scared. What I did to win that feeling was two things: no eye contact with the audience and started to play pretending to be in the rehearsal rooms. Works for me all the time

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

So many! Every big band in the metal scene teaches us a lesson on how to kill on stage. It’s impossible to pick just one!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ah, nothing fun to report yet, but who knows soon!

13. What do you think of your fans?

I think they're very different regarding background, interests, and so on. Many of them have been following us for many years and we can only be happy about this!

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathing the core is an important medium for our metal community, and we’re very glad you gave us this little space!

15. Something to add?
