Interviews: NYMPHIC

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Crossover band NYMPHIC from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?

"The idea for the band name came from a word I first heard when I was 14. It struck me as the perfect way to describe the flower character I had created, now known as the NYMPHIC flower. This word resonated with me because it carried a sense of the mythical and the feminine, emulating the juxtaposition of light and shadow that I wanted this flower character to represent.

In essence, the band name is a reflection of our commitment to exploring these intricate themes and emotions, inviting listeners to find beauty in the unexpected and the profound." - Stix

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up with this style of music—its energy, rebellious nature, and powerful attitude. We absolutely love it! Playing this genre feels like an act of rebellion in itself. It empowers us to express ourselves authentically, tapping into a sense of freedom and personal strength, sharing a collective spirit of defiance and self-empowerment. Bang your head and move your body!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all met separately before joining the project one by one. Singer Stix and Guitarist George met at the end of 2018 at The Castle, North Acton, where Stix was working at the time. George moved into the university halls next door to the pub and started working there too. They bonded over music and soon began working on the NYMPHIC project together. They then met Tony on ‘findmyband.com’. Finally, The Castle closed down, so Stix and George went to work at a cheese packing company where they met Omi, the final member of the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Stix - Iron Maiden

George - Pendulum

Tony - Landmvrks

Omi - Slipknot

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We aim to create music that is rich in symbolism and depth, inspired by anything and everything—politics, social circumstances, relationships, personal experiences, and struggles. We aim to create a narrative journey and emotional experience for our listeners. By weaving stories and messages into our music, we hope to inspire others to find their own voice and embrace their individuality.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Grand Final of the Metal To The Masses competition downstairs at The Dome is on June 8th. After six months of tough competition with other underground metal bands, we made it one of six bands to play the finals. Though we didn't win the competition, our journey in this huge battle of the bands competition really developed our sound and performance to a higher level.

7. Where would you like to play?

We would love to play some shows in Europe, or further out of the UK, and even hit up some bigger metal festivals!

8. Who would you like to support?

Rise Of The North Star
Blood Command
Wargasm
Black Gold

9. Who not?

Taylor Swift - we wouldn't want to show Tay Tay up.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

100%. See the stage as a space where you can fully express your creativity and individuality. Let go of any self-doubt and immerse yourself in the moment. Channel your energy into every performance. It also helps to pretend no one's watching.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands who started from the underground scene like us are a strong inspiration, such as Nova Twins, Wargasm, and Royal Blood, as well as the bands we have played with in the underground scene over the past few years.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A 90s-style hip-hop artist who is a fan of the band asked us to feature on his album launch show, which was odd for us but really fun. Going from metal to a beat-driven, synth style of music inspired us to start experimenting with synth and electronic elements in our own music. It was one hell of a fun show to play. Shout out to Osuma and Khalid's 'Skunkworks' album.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are everything to us. Every show is a testament to the incredible connection we share with our fans. Their presence energizes us, turning each performance into a shared experience. We are deeply grateful for their belief in us and their role in shaping our artistic identity.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love the site! A super diverse range of bands is covered as well as the features themselves. We particularly like your 'Behind the Artworks' features!

15. Something to add?

We feel like we are leveling up as a band but still in the early stages, and this is our first interview. So thank you for showing interest in us and our music and for your support on our journey ❤️
