Track By Tracks: Bongfoot - Help! The Humans... (2024)

1. End times:

This song took us two years to write. We originally intended to release it on the first EP, but we’re glad we waited. We took inspiration from Young Man’s Blues, a song covered by The Who. It is an anti-pop anthem for the end of times.

2. Miss 'Merica:

Miss ‘Merica is a comment on the geopolitical state of America. “You’ve got to pay to get in, you’ve got to pay to win!”

It criticizes America’s tendency to sell itself to other nations as we currently are with Israel. The song draws parallels to pageantry and prostitution, which are current oppressive issues within our country. However, this song depicts America as a prostitute.

3. Environmental Gaslighting:

This song was inspired by Hank Williams, and Doc Watson. The repetition and concept of the river are a homage to the two legends.

4. Acid Rain:

This song is about… you guessed it… acid rain! It’s on the thrashier side and is about the self-inflicted environmental wounds of post-industrial America.

5. Kill the Hippies:

Kill the Hippies talks about the hypocrisy of the military and cops in America, especially during the Nixon administration. America was firebombing and killing people and attempted to divert attention from these crimes by villainizing progressive countercultures within our own country. It also relates to the War on Drugs. It’s about the priorities of those who control the power.

6. Bad man:

This song looks into the theme of toxic masculinity. It is a tongue-in-cheek rock song tying in themes from the capital riots, and those who have fallen into the traps of dangerous right-wing pipelines and are unwilling to change with the times.

7. Krakatoa:

This song is about America’s eternal bond with atomic weapons. It draws comparisons to the eruption of the ancient volcano Krakatoa and the drop of the atomic bomb.

8. A.D (Atomic Daffodils):

Atomic Daffodils explores a world where nuclear radiation blocks out the sun, and the only semblance of the sun is found in the glowing Daffodils.

9. Hot Grease pt 2:

This song is about the greed of America’s conquest through industry and the relentless pursuit of wealth and power.

10. Amazon Death Factory / Spacefoot:

In 1928 Henry Ford set up a planned industrial town in the Amazon rainforest to cultivate rubber. The process of harvesting rubber involved enduring lengthy hours. Workers were expected to work an unsafe 9:00-5:00 in exhausting heat. At least 3,600 people were killed by these conditions. This event has current-day similarities to worker exploitation within Amazon as a company. This song criticizes both Henry Ford and Amazon for their horrific environmental impacts and violations of human rights. “Help! The humans are killing the animals, and the plants and bees!”
