Track By Tracks: Sarajah - Sarajah (2024)

1. Sarajah:

The title track of the album takes you on a dangerous journey across Arctic waters. The song is one of the fastest on the album. The riffs and drum beats give a rolling rhythm. In the middle part, the song has a bit more complex structure than most songs on the album. Riffs and lyrics by J.H.

2. Lungs of Smoke:

This song is one of the heaviest on this album. The song starts with bass and guitar giving atmosphere. Pounding drums and heavy guitars come in next. The song continues with steady drum beats and guitar riffs. Lyrics deal with the inevitable theme of the end of the world as we know it. Riffs by J.H. and lyrics by Magus.

3. Long Riders:

A bit faster rocker in the vein of Pentagram. Lyrics concentrate on things like loss and loyalty. Bit enigmatic? Perhaps. Repetitive? Yes, but sparse verses are common in Iggy Pop's lyrics as well, so why not? May or may not be influenced by Walter Hill and Bruce Springsteen. Jeff's guitar solo captures the essence of this song.

4. Journeys of Willem Barentsz:

The song "Journeys of Willem Barentsz" tells the story of a pioneer explorer of the northern seas. This is a heavy song with anvils ringing to the rhythm of guitar riffs and drum beats. Riffs and lyrics by J.H.

5. Home of Arktos:

An old song from the days J.H. was doing Sarajah as a solo outfit. This song has a strong lyrical theme in Nordic mythology. The song has a different time signature than the other songs. It also features Thomas Pyre on harmonium. These elements make the song sound a bit different. Music and lyrics by J.H.

6. A Year with Us:

Another old song from the J.H. solo days. This song also has a strong lyrical theme in Nordic mythology. The song is built mostly on vocals. Not as riff-oriented as some other songs on the album. Music and lyrics by J.H.

7. I Am the Soil:

"I Am the Soil" was the last song we wrote for the album. We wanted a bit faster song to complete the album. The song is quite straightforward. It has a few riffs for the basic structure and a middle part just before the guitar solo. Jeff played the solo and it turned out great! The words for this song have gotten their inspiration from the northern poet T. K. Mukka. The riffs are by J.H. and the lyrics by Magus.

8. Underworld:

The longest song on the album. This song builds its atmosphere slowly. The song has a nice middle part with lead guitars and guitar harmonies. The verses also include sitar and e-bow. Music and lyrics by J.H.
