“Rope” or as it was initially called “CTC-Pat-demo” was written during a state of purgatory and uncertainty. After our previous singer departed we were determined to stay sharp, to continue writing despite not knowing what the future was. This was the first instrumental demo we sent to James before he officially joined. What he returned to us is largely the song “Rope” you hear now. James says he immediately felt a connection to the song, and understood what we all were “saying” and knew it was his purpose to give a voice to this emotion- finishing the start of our sentence. The song drives a sense of frustration - fighting for clarity as you struggle to not give in to the darkness.
