Behind The Tracks: I Hear Sirens - 011 (Single) (2024)

Daved: Writing 011 was a little challenging. The idea started with a piano line Eric wrote back in 2018, but we had a hard time coming up with a version that felt right. We rewrote the song several times right up until recording the album in March 2024. Somehow, everything just fell into place at the last minute.

As a band we never really assigned a meaning to the song. That’s one of the best things about instrumental music though. You can attach your own feelings and emotions to the music, and create a personalized meaning. To me, 011 represents a sense of being numbered and categorized, of losing one's sense of self in a world that demands conformity and obedience. The interplay between the gentle and the harsh in the music reflects the struggle to retain one's humanity amidst dehumanizing forces.
