Behind The Tracks: Petty Human Emotions - Lady In The Lake (Single) (2024)

The first thing I had for Lady in the Lake was the guitar intro. initially I was actually thinking it would be a slower song, but right around the time of it's conception we were starting to think the album needed a better balance of slower and more upbeat tracks. I was struggling with the writing process at first, but it immediately clicked for me after making the decision to make the song more upbeat. I took inspiration from "Lovesong" by The Cure and Nirvana's "Come as You Are" when developing the sonic landscape of the track.
