Interviews About Albums: Bad Absalom - Paradise Is Cancelled (2024)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Australian Stoner Punk Rock band Bad Absalom to ask questions about their album, "Paradise Is Cancelled".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
'Paradise is Cancelled' is us, as a band, putting our best foot
forward. Both in the songwriting and recording process, we were much
more experienced than we were in the first album. We knew what we
wanted and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. 'The Brain
Studios' did a fantastic job of helping us achieve what we envisioned
sonically and we couldn't have done it without them.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
'Paradise is Cancelled' is about dealing with the harsh reality of
life. It's about knowing that some things that are broken will never
be fixed and nothing you do will ever change that.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Our singer writes all the lyrics and riffs and then brings the songs in.
The other band members may have a few changes or suggestions to add on
rare occasions. We, then, set about putting in solos, drums, and bass.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
'Aching Bones' is probably our first choice. It seems to be our
biggest audience pleaser, off the EP, and it still remains heavy and
has sick riffs.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
The message of this EP is pretty much in the title. The lyrics were
written by our singer when things were pretty grim in his life
experience. The songs are about the harsh realities of life and how
many times they are unavoidable.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
The title track, 'Paradise is Cancelled', has the heaviest lyrics,
period, so anything from that song
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like
musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
We like to thank 'The Brain Studios' for recording/mixing/mastering us
and cheers to everyone who shared the stage with us or came to our
shows.
8. Something to add?
We just finished the drums for our new album so if you like this
release then you can look forward to that.
