Interviews: Black Lysted

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock 'N' Roll band Black Lysted from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

I was on the phone with my old manager and the word BLACK LYSTED came up in a conversation and was more of a joke...and she said why don't you name the band BLACK LYSTED? What's more rock 'n' roll and metal than that. I suggested that's cool but we put a Y instead of an I in the word Listed so we are BLACK LYSTED.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up on rock N roll as we came the ranks from the 80s to present and we wanted to represent and create songs that could be a part of the rock n roll family tree.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I met ACE after a sold show in Vancouver, Canada when I was singing for Jet Black Stare after signing to Island Def Jam Records. He was introduced to me right after I got off the stage by his drummer Melanie who is a good friend of mine. We hit off and hung out the rest of the night at the venue talking music. As for the other members Craig I met through one of my best friends and instantly I knew he had to be in the band. How I met Brett I was in a VIP event and Brett was there I pointed to him and said there's my drummer and we hit it off and the rest is history.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Rod - AC/DC and Johnny Cash, Guns and Roses

Ace - Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Simple Minds

Craig - Van Halen, Rush

Brett - Motley Crüe, Ozzy, Iron Maiden

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The Universe and my Spiritual journey through this life.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Marina this summer 2024 at an outdoor festival in Lake Country, Kelowna.

7. Where would you like to act?

Show me the script. I have a lot of screen time on various music videos and other TV shows. Very fortunate to have an acting outlet in my artistic career.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Black and ACE in their former projects have shared stages and toured collectively with many acts from around the globe, We always enjoyed touring and sharing the stage with these bands. Can't wait to share the stage with our peers in: Shine Down, Staind, Theory of a Deadman, Hed Pe, Hinder, Saliva, Disturbed, Ghost, Hell Yeah, Like a Storm, 3 Doors Down, Drowning Pool, Nothing More.

9. Whom not?

We know who we won't play with let's just put it that way.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

In the early beginning of all of our careers stage fright was a normal experience to have. Over time you build confidence trudging through the local scene and paying your dues in your city and you just roll with it. After a while, you are what you created.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Fortunately, that has not happened to any of us but some cool stuff that fans did was: Ace had a fan that had a tattoo shop and offered to do his Left arm half tattoo and he gets a sleeve done and ironically Black had a fan tattoo one of his song titles I'm Breathing on his body.

13. What do you think of your fans? 

They keep us breathing.
