Interviews: Chained Saint

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Chained Saint from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Ethan: I was in my Algebra 1 class in Freshman year and found myself super bored and decided to start thinking of cool names. I sent a picture of the list to the band group chat and everyone loved Chained Saint. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Sebastian: I am a fan of most genres of music, and have played in many bands where we jam a wide variety of different types of music but out of all of them metal always gave me a different feeling than the rest. I was getting heavily into the genre when I started these jams and knew that was what I wanted to play. It’s something I enjoy doing and jamming together and writing songs. Cameron I always loved the aggressive sound that metal has to offer. As I started jamming with different people I realized that metal was also the genre I enjoyed writing and playing the most. 

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ethan: I knew Sebastian about a year before the formation of the band, but we weren’t really as close. 

Cameron: In high school, I was taking guitar class, and that’s how me and Ethan met. 

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Ethan: Right now, TOOL. 

Sebastian: Right now, A Perfect circle.-Cameron At this moment I would say Dying Fetus. 

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Cameron: I get really inspired just by the music I listen to, knowing I can try to create the things I love to listen to and find the same enjoyment from it really inspires me. Usually whatever I’m into at the time inspires the way I write sometimes definitely. 

Sebastian: I get inspired by any new music that I discover as well as watching live performances of bands I love. 

6. Where was your last gig?

Ethan: A bar named Sharkeys. 

7. Where would you like to act?

Ethan: The Metro in Chicago. Ever since I watched a video of Metallica live at the Metro from 1983 I always thought it would be a really cool place to play.

Cameron: I would like to play anywhere in Australia one day.

Sebastian: I would love to play at Bloodstock one day. 

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Ethan: Drain for sure. 

9. Whom not?

Ethan: Honestly no one, I feel like any opportunity is a good one. 

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Ethan: Maybe the first time, but really only when we get on stage. After that I was comfortable. 

Sebastian: The first time I got on stage I was a bit nervous but once I started playing it went away. I would say the best thing that helps is practicing the setlist as feeling prepared for a show makes you less nervous.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Ethan: A wide variety of bands really inspire me, but notable ones are probably TOOL, Drain, Sepultura, ST, Mastodon, and Power Trip. 

Cameron: Sepultura, Pantera, powertrip, drain, STP, and Sublime. 

Sebastian: Sepultura, Hatebreed, Mindforce, Dying Fetus, and Knocked Loose.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ethan: Nothing big, mainly just guitar picks. 

13. What do you think of your fans?

Ethan: Very positive! I’m really just grateful to see that people appreciate our music. 

14. What do you think of our site?

Ethan: I dig it, noticed some interviews with some cool bands and liked it.
