Interviews: The Delirium Effect

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band The Delirium Effect from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

The band name for The Delirium Effect just came about when we were tossing around different ideas of what to call our project in 2018. The Delirium Effect just felt right at the time and we decided to run with it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We've always been fans of metal and hardcore music. Most of our interests tend to converge in the metalcore subgenre and our EP POINT BLANK is a reflection of the things we love about it. The aggression, passion, and excitement from these songs feel unmatched in our minds.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Before forming The Delirium Effect in 2018, we all knew each other for years beforehand. We were all a part of different projects, but always had an interest in playing together. When the opportunity arose, it was just the right fit for all of us.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jordan - Mastodon

Storm - Sylosis

Brett - Fit For An Autopsy

Alex - Fit For An Autopsy

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We take inspiration from the world around us, our personal experiences, and how those two things intertwine throughout our lives.

6. Where was your last gig?

In July of 2023, we played Metal Mayhem Fest in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It happened to be one of the best shows we had played as a band up until that point. Life got in the way and the band took an extended hiatus. Friday, August 23rd is our return to the stage, for a hometown release show of our EP POINT BLANK at Cregeen's Irish Pub in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

We've had some great artists feature on a few of our songs so far. Tyler Haile from Hostages was featured on our track "DOA," David Simonich III from Signs of the Swarm was featured on "God Complex," and David Bruno from Summoning the Lich was featured on "Force-Fed Salvation." I've always thought having Vincent Bennett from The Acacia Strain on a track would be phenomenal.

8. Whom not?

I can't think of anyone we would be absolutely opposed to working with. Then again, it's not something we've put that much thought into.

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Brett: I remember the first show I ever played, I was frozen on stage. I planned to have this active energy and really put on a fantastic show, but I could barely move and I was just shaking the entire time. It also didn't help that it was an outdoor gig in the wintertime. In hindsight, I had nothing to worry about, and I think realizing that there is nothing to worry about can do a lot of good. Just letting yourself feel free and letting the music flow through you while living in the moment is the best thing you can do.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

We draw a lot of inspiration from a lot of places. Aside from the favorite bands we previously listed, the material on POINT BLANK drew a lot of influence from bands like Pain of Truth, Guilt Trip, Drain, and Judiciary.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Brett: I can't recall a fan ever asking anything weird of us. However, I do recall a show where I saw a fan wearing our shirt after our set. I jokingly said "nice shirt, man!" He then proceeded to have a conversation with me about the band in a way that he didn't realize I was in the band and was just on the stage playing earlier that night. Haha!

12. What do you think of your fans?

It's the most wonderful feeling to have people that enjoy and support your art. Like other bands will tell you, they are what keep us going and they are the reason we are able to do what we do. We've already received so much support and positive feedback about POINT BLANK that we truly feel humbled by the community that has given their ears to The Delirium Effect.

13. What do you think of our site?

The Breathing the Core site looks great! I love the layout, the band interviews, and the Spotify playlists full of great music!

14. Something to add?

Not at this time.
