Interviews: Extreme Mind
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal band Extreme Mind from Austria. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
I had the idea for the band's name since I was a teenager, but the name started to mean different things as time went by. Now, we think "Extreme Mind" represents the state of consciousness where all the ideas of the past, future, and present exist simultaneously.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Progressive metal has always been very stimulating and exciting for us. It's where we can experiment and challenge ourselves while remaining true to the song and the overall storytelling.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, we all met in the process.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
It's hard to name them all, but Sam grew up on different types of metal and progressive music (Haken, Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Tesseract...).
Merlin: Soilwork, Lamb of God, Korn, Jinjer, Rage Against the Machine.
Stefan: Opeth, Dream Theater, Alice in Chains.
Chris: Tool, Dream Theater, GoGo Penguin.
Lasse: Tyr, Amon Amarth, Stoned Jesus.
Nora: Avantasia, Bring Me the Horizon, Haken, Nightwish, Symphony X.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
A lot of different things can inspire us—anything from personal daily experiences to the human mind as a whole and the complexity of emotions.
6. Where was your last gig?
Arena Basel.
7. Where would you like to act?
To play? Almost any good European festivals and hopefully others on different continents.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Nick Johnston, Devin Townsend, and many more.
9. Whom not?
Katy Perry, Puff Daddy.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Of course, we all did, especially when things weren't working right. Our advice is to remain as Zen as possible and just become the music that you play.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Diablo Swing Orchestra, Dream Theater, Haken...
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
If they can give us potatoes.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are like a good team of friends who are as obsessed with music as we are.
14. What do you think of our site?
The website covers a wide spectrum of bands and genres, and it's a perfect place to find good underground music.
15. Something add?
We would like to thank you for the opportunity to do this interview and encourage everyone to check out our latest single "All the Way Down" on Spotify or YouTube and stay tuned for our debut album on October 30th
