Interviews: Paradis

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Paradis from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it just come out like that?

Paradis comes from the thought of merging two aspects of the Italian poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. The first part, Inferno, tells the story of Dante's descent through the nine circles of hell, with circles six through nine being contained within the City of Dis. The third part of the poem shows Dante reaching Paradise. The name stems from the dichotomy of heaven and hell needing each other to exist.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We have all grown up listening to the genre. Metal shows have been some of the best experiences of our lives, and the fans are so passionate about the genre that it is almost impossible not to be taken in by it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We had all played in previous bands together in the past that unfortunately didn't work out, Paradis was formed from all of us still wanting to write and perform music together with the intention of this band being the one.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jonny - Avenged Sevenfold, Architects, Parkway Drive

Pedro - Avenged Sevenfold, Polaris, Currents

Federico - Monuments, Jinjer, Erra

Mark - Rainbow, Opeth, Death

Flynn - Anthrax, VOLA, Judas Priest

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As fun, as angry songs are to write and perform, we like to mix a balance of positivity into our writing to match the theme of our name. Our new single Immortal is about rising above the bad experiences you have suffered in your lifetime and becoming greater than you were before.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Brighton at a venue called Daltons, it was an amazing venue that is right on the beach, we are playing there again in September with a whole bunch of awesome bands.

7. Where would you like to play?

Jonny - Download festival without a doubt, I've been going every single year since I was 18 and it has become a huge part of my life, for me it is the absolute pinnacle of what I want to achieve right now 8. Who would you like to support? Currently Imminence, they bring a fresh style of metalcore that grabbed our attention very fast, the violin being so prominent makes for a unique-sounding band that we believe we would complement very well.

9. Who not?

Electric Callboy, as much as we adore them as a band and everything they do, the genre clash would be a bit too extreme.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

The excitement of playing tops any stage fright that may be present for us. For beginners we would say, within a minute of you playing the fear will be gone, power through and you will be so happy that you did.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Some of our biggest inspirations are Architects, Parkway Drive, and Polaris for the spectacle and theatrics that they bring to everything they do. We aim to bring a huge show to our gigs as well as the songs that we are so proud of.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Jonny - Once a fan asked me to give their friend a shout-out for their birthday, which normally would be fine, however, I was currently standing up on the bar in the middle of a breakdown...

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans, as cliche as it sounds, without fans, we have absolutely nothing. Having people who want to see you perform and enjoy your music is what it's all about.

14. What do you think of our site?

Any site that is bringing some spotlight to smaller bands, and metal music as a whole is awesome in our books

15. Something to add?

Thanks for having us, we would like readers to check out our new single 'Immortal'. We are so proud of this track and we can't wait to share what we have coming up next
