Behind The Tracks: Glass Hands - What My Mind Can Do To Me (Single) (2024)

"What My Mind Can Do To Me" is about the isolating experience of getting trapped in your own head, but also about the fear of falling back into that state even after you've made it out. I wrote this song after going through a rough patch with anxiety and a tough relationship. It talks about those sleepless nights and feeling empty, watching things crumble around you when you're stuck in that headspace. The main line, "I'm still afraid of what my mind can do to me," really captures the core of it - dealing with two problems at once - your own internal struggles and trying to make a relationship work at the same time." Says the band regarding the new single. "Even if you’ve found a way out of that dark place, you’re still scared of how easily you could end up back there. It also delves into the complexities of a long-term relationship coming to an end. It explores the feeling of stagnation that can creep into a partnership and the eventual breakdown that follows. The song touches on trying to help that person when you're barely holding it together yourself, and how your mind can twist everything when you're in that state. I think a lot of people can relate to this. It's about facing these mental struggles, the fear of relapsing into tunnel vision, and trying to keep moving forward in a relationship.
