Behind the Tracks: Worm Hero - Purely Exploitation (Single) (2024)

This wondrous marvel of Andromedan Grindcore aims to evoke a sense of urgency and menace - the two defining characteristics of the malevolent serial murderer known as Dildy Wonker. Dildy Wonker was from a race of shapeshifting Gimpoids called the Didlo Men and was permanently stuck in the form of our Mogri friend Dildwuar Esquire (who was our ex-guitarist and our far too gentle enforcer). Dildy ran a fake business to perpetuate his crimes under the guise of having a planet-wide chocolate factory called Wonker Spunkbars Industrial and this song is a small recollection of his much more horrendous crimes back in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Xandra's vocal stylings are meant to be interpretable one of two ways: as fearful, or as a mocking of that fear. Dildy loved to mock his victims who were terrified of the reveal of his true nature. O'Fulchy's synths were designed to be reminiscent of a cross between a circus clown playing a plastic saxophone (a la Ornette Coleman with a big red honker) and a malfunctioning nougat mixer - a regular sound at the Wonker World for Wonker Spunkbar Industrial.

This sense of anxiety is further helped by the unstable harmony of Xandra's guitar work which is anchored by the bassline from Chellibal with the opening riff ebbing and flowing from atonality to non-functional but fairly understandable harmony which then explodes in the extremely dissonant chords of the verse and chorus riffs. The song disintegrates near the end of the track into a very chaotic and off-kilter mathcore style breakdown aided by Morgan Allen Jones (our trusty sapient looper pedal). We decided to end it on a fairly dark and gloomy drone provided to us by our friends from lärmarbeiter - a mysterious collective of "noise workers" from an unknown location who we communicate to via what little Andromedan tech we could salvage.

- Xandra Shitquark, Junkite from Planet Junko raised on Arcadaea with her twin sister Jezebel by their single mother Jankelline.
