Interviews About Albums: DEF/LIGHT - Frequency Of Fear (2024)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Ukranian Metal band DEF/LIGHT to ask questions about their album, "Frequency Of Fear".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
This is a very powerful and fast-paced piece of work. We are confident that it will resonate with listeners
who can feel the intensity we’ve tried to infuse into this project.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
At DEF/LIGHT, we strive to create meaningful work. The album is dedicated to the mystical fear of
nature, the fear of a monstrous multiverse. Specifically, it’s dedicated to Heinrich Hertz, who paved the
way into a world of nightmares and death. This twisted world is a reflection of our own, an ugly world…
one that most people have already gotten used to.
3. Who is the composer of the CD/EP?
All the music is currently composed by Void.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
It's a tough choice. Probably "Back to Dust."
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If so, what is it?
A message... hmm... It is foolish to believe that our world is limited by the four dimensions familiar to us,
three spatial and one temporal. I assure you, there are “places,” if that word even applies here, that are
much more interesting. Places that are close to us and at the same time infinitely far away. Places where
Euclidean geometry doesn't work. Places that can be in superposition, regardless of the presence of an
observer. Beautiful places... But you would rather die than be “there.”
6. Are there any lyrics that you'd love to share?
Any lyrics will be available on Bandcamp. I'm confident that our listeners are smart enough to find the
one that resonates with them.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Musically or from friends, family, someone
you'd love to thank especially?
A special thanks to the musician and composer of this project. And of course, to my family, who put up
with a music studio right in our apartment. As for inspiration... Edgar Allan Poe, Lovecraft, Robert
Bloch... maybe Anne Rice. First and foremost, it’s books and my own inner perceptions of the world.
Thanks to this, I write lyrics that are as sincere as possible.
8. Anything to add?
Thank you for the interview. Stay strong and don’t lose yourself.
Great Work!
