In this new interview, we sat down with the South African band Mithras Crowned to ask questions about their album, "Hymns Of The Hierophant".

1. What can you say about Hymns of the Hierophant?

"Hymns of the Hierophant" is the debut EP by South African Black Metal outfit, Mithras Crowned. Written, recorded, and performed by the band as an Ode to Mithras The album was released on the 16th of July 2024, and was mixed and mastered by Mix or Die productions

2. What is the meaning of the album name?

Hymns of the Hierophant basically means songs of the priest. We are the hierophants who interpret the sacred rites of Mithras and try to spread his message through the telling of ancient tales

3. Which one is the composer of the album?

Mithras Crowned composes all of our music as a collective 4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick? Ritual Madness, which is the opening single of our debut

5. Is there a special message in Hymns of the Hierophant? If there is what it is?

This EP serves as an introduction to the ancient tales from a misanthropic and existentialist perspective. Future releases will delve more into the sacred mysteries of Mithras

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Emerald Voyage This passage comes after the emerald tablet of Thoth is found and immortality has been achieved "The son of the morning Delivered immortality Thoth the teacher of men Taught me to envy death Cursed with perpetual existence The greed has manifest To never feel the eternal sleep Is to never truly live"

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

We would like to thank our lord Mithras for shining a guiding light on our musical endeavor

8. Something to add?

Mithras Crowned is looking to expand its European footprint and will embark on its first European July in July 2025. The tour will start off in Sweden and will end in Italy.
