Interviews: Forsaken Rite

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Symphonic Folk Metal/Folk Metal band Forsaken Rite from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

Interestingly enough, we started with a band name generator, looked for words we liked and we found “Forsaken”, then worked out another word that worked well with “Forsaken” and ended on “Rite”.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For the founder (Adaria) it was the only option. After hearing Eluveitie for the first time, something clicked. This was the music she needed to play. It was the necessity of playing music that was different yet still “metal”. At the time in our local scene, “folk metal” was almost unheard of.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Unfortunately no. This current rendition of the band (Warparty) happened several years after the first iteration back in 2012.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Adaria - Eluveitie

Ulfbjorn - RUSH

Rav - Slaves

Ursa - Nightwish

Emrys - Pig Destroyer

Peregyr - Katatonia

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Forsaken Rite started to create a world of adventure, history, and remembrance. From the very beginning, we knew every song had to tell a story. Each song had to be able to stand alone and also be part of the larger narrative.

6. Where was your last gig?

We recently headlined a festival in Fort McMurray called Party in the Park 2 on Sept 14, 2024. Our next performance is in Vancouver on Sept 27, 2024.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d like to play shows outside of our country, Canada, such as Europe, the USA, or South America.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

In an ideal world, with the likes of Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Arkona.

9. Whom not?

Country music acts.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Ulfbjorn has suffered from stage fright for the past 15 years of performing at live venues. The only thing that he says will help combat stage fright is consistency. If the time between performances is too long, nervousness and shakes are always there before a show. Best thing you can do is just take the plunge, it’ll go away by the second song. That being said, another good word of advice is “They came here to see you!”, many people would love to be doing what you do. Own it and do your best!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For Adaria, it has always been Eluvietie, with a multitude of instruments and Celtic-inspired melodies.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Tough one! In our experience, our brothers and sisters are very respectful of the Warparty. A very cool thing we got to do recently was sign a young musician’s acoustic guitar, what an honor!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are our brothers and sisters, fellow warriors joining us in battle at every show. We adore the commitment they put into their battle garb and we endeavour to put on the best show possible for them.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love that you support and give a platform to a wide variety of genres and metal acts. We salute you and raise our mead horns to you!

15. Something to add?

Thank you for the opportunity to do this interview! The Forgotten West EP will be out on all platforms on September 27, 2024.
