Interviews: Gravery

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore/Downtempo band Gravery from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were looking for a name that fit with the topics the songs talk about and it came out just like that when 2 of us were attending the Outbreak Festival in Manchester in 2023. It sounded good to all of us and the rest is history

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It comes naturally to us to play this type of Downtempo considering the background we have which is mainly Metallic Hardcore, Beatdown, and Death Metal. We also like Slam so it all comes together pretty naturally.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Sure thing. We are all in the same sort of HC BD scene in Milano and we have known each other pretty well for a long time

4. Each band member's favorite band?

We don’t really have favorite bands of all time as we listen to a lot of music and we keep listening to different genres. We are influenced by bands from the distant past, from the recent past, and mainly from the present.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We mostly want to outline uncomfortable topics such as the analysis of the destructive potential of the human mind. Our songs speak about the serial killer’s way of thinking and sometimes acting from the point of view of the serial killer himself

6. Where was your last gig?

In Heerlen The Netherlands

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to have the opportunity to tour in the USA Australia, and Japan as well.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Bodysnatcher, Traitors, Volatile Ways, Cell, The Acacia Strain, and many many more.

9. Whom not?

No one in particular. We don't have bad blood with anybody and we like all of of the different genres. If we would have the opportunity to play with Duran Duran we would be honored.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No, not really. Just take 5 minutes before the show to enter the zone. Remember why you are doing this and picture yourself in the songs before you play them. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As we said earlier we cannot answer this question fairly. We listen to too much music, the list will be too long. But as per our style, we would certainly mention Bodysnatcher, Traitors, and Strangled.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

They don’t dare to ask.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the foundation of our band life. We go out and conquer them one by one show after show everywhere in the EU and UK

14. What do you think of our site?

It should have more exposure. People are relying only on SM to get news and this is a bit distorted. The press is made by professionals and the opinions and the content are more relevant in a way, meaning that in some SM anyone can say anything (which normally is more than ok), but sometimes this is going out of hand.

15. Something to add?
