Interviews: Motion Sick
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band Motion Sick from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?
The band name originates from the song "Motion Sickness" by the band Neck Deep.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
It's the genre that comes to us naturally! Pop punk/emo allows for more cathartic lyrics, and our sound fits the kind of energy we want to bring to shows.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed and if so how did you all meet?
Sam started Motion Sick and met Hogan along the way. They met Ben and Michael through shows and the local music community.
4. What is each band member's favorite band?
Sam's is Neck Deep. Hogan's is Blink-182. Ben's is Green Day. Michael's is The Story So Far.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Sam starts writing all of the songs, and he usually writes about what is going on around him. From there, the songs take their natural course through the full band's practice.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at Excellency Fest in Bay City, MI!
7. Where would you like to perform?
We don't have any exact venues in mind, but two goals for us are playing shows in the United Kingdom and Indonesia. We get asked to play these two countries pretty often online and we'd love to meet the fans we have overseas!
8. Whom would you like to tour with and why?
We dream about touring with Neck Deep, The Story So Far, or The Wonder Years. All of these bands have inspired us a lot and it would be an honor to share the stage with them.
9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
In the beginning, stage fright was difficult to battle. However, continuing to play shows helps with that a lot. You'll become more comfortable with yourself and how you play over time, and that ultimately makes your live show better.
10. What bands have inspired you the most?
Neck Deep, Blink-182, Green Day, and The Wonder Years are all big inspirations that were mentioned. Other pop punk bands like Knuckle Puck, Citizen, and Alkaline Trio are also very influential to us.
11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We had fans in Pittsburgh who wanted to go to the casino with us. We had met them just minutes before, but it was kind of tempting.
12. What would you say to your fans who have supported you most?
Obviously, thank you to everyone who has checked out our music! We could write a whole book about how much it means to us that we can keep doing Motion Sick, but it is something we don't take for granted.
13. Anything to add?
