Interviews: PRIMAL
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal/Power Metal/Thrash Metal band PRIMAL from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
The name came from our singer Alberto “Beto” Zammarbide. The concept is to take our music back to the roots
or the beginning of Metal Music.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I write the music and what I wanted to do is play the type of Metal I like and enjoy. So it’s a blend of Thrash and
NWOBHM sound. I did not want to follow a trend.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We are all former members of known Metal bands and have played together before. Jorge Iacobellis
“drummer” and I played for years in Hirax. Cesar Ceregatti “bass” played with me in Steel Vengeance, and
Beto ex V8 “vocalist” is a friend of Jorge’s from Argentina.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
We all come from the old school. So bands like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Sabbath and Zeppelin are on the top of
the list. But we also like non Metal bands as well. The Beatles, Rush and Doors make the list.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I have a love for all kinds of music. I was twelve when I started. It’s hard to say what inspires me because every
time I pick up my guitar I want to write something. I guess God gave me a gift.
6. Where was your last gig?
We were on tour last March and April. We played dates in Spain, Switzerland, Argentina, and the U.S. We will
be going back on the road in November and December in South America and in June on the West Coast of the
U.S.
7. Where would you like to act?
I guess you mean play. We would love to get back to Europe and the East Coast of the U.S. Where ever there
is a Metal show we would love to go.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
There are so many bands I’d love to play with. But we have some friends we would love to share the stage
with. Testament, Heretic, Ruthless, Rata Blanka, Iron Maiden to name a few.
9. Whom not?
It doesn’t matter if we would play with anyone.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
When I was young I’d get a little, but the more I played the easier it got. That’s the best way to get over stage
fright. You just got to get out there and play.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The bands that inspire me the most I’d say are some personal friends like Vic Jonson guitarist for Sammy
Hagar and Blues Icon John Lee Hooker who would show me it doesn’t matter how old you are just keep
playing.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
This last tour everyone wanted my guitar picks. I almost ran out. Also, someone asked me to sign their arm
once. I guess it's for a tattoo.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I love our fans. They support us and keep our hopes alive. We would not be doing this if it wasn’t for them. So a
big shout out to our fans.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s a really cool site. I love how you have a spot for everyone. Not just big bands. Lots of content too.
15. Something to add?
I want to thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me and showing interest in what we do.
To our fans again THANK YOU for the support. We will see you out there.
