Interviews: Showoff
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band Showoff from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Chris was handed a guitar at a party and then our old drummer Dan and his cousin Andrew were there. After Chris was done playing a song, Andrew said, "what a showoff!" Then, the band formed with Dan. Chris wanted the band to be called, "December Skyline," Dan wanted it to be "Showoff." Dan came to the first show with shirts that said "Showoff" so Chris lost the battle.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
It started out as an original 50's style band, and we were kids so it came out as pop punk.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We knew each other from previous bands in the scene and decided to bring Showoff back.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Chris: Ringworm or Fifteen
Mickey: Anything that Devin Parker touches
Steve: Phinehas
Alex: Lifetime
Matt: Pulley
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
When I was younger, it was girls I had fallen for. Now that I'm older, I think of human relationships, whether it's romance, kids, or friendships.
6. Where was your last gig?
Chicago, IL & La Crosse, WI
7. Where would you like to act?
Europe and Japan
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Mike Patton
9. Whom not?
Assholes, rarely do you run into negative people who are not looking to have fun and have a good time with everyone.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I get nervous before every show. Going out there, putting it in your head that you're going to do the best you can. You're taking the stage with your best friends and remember that everyone there is looking to have a good time. So if you have a good time, they will too.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
When I was a kid, the bands I listened to the most were Bad Religion, NOFX, Green Day, and Fifteen. The first show I ever went to, I was 15 years old and I saw Green Day, Copout, and American Lesion at the Antenna Club in Memphis, TN. Seeing that crowd and being around all those people made me finally feel like I belonged somewhere
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I had a girl ask me to sign intimate parts. It was super awkward.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are amazing. Some have been with us since we started in 1997. They still come out and sing all the songs with us. The new fans are awesome, too, and have given us so much support and drive us to keep making new music.
14. What do you think of our site?
The site is packed with content and is an awesome way to discover new bands to listen to.
15. Something to add?
We want to say thank you for putting us on your site and asking us questions. Sites like this pay attention to new bands or bands some people haven't heard of. We really appreciate the effort you put into putting these interviews together. If you ever need anything from us again, we'd be honored to take part.
